My name is Joëlle Hébert, and I am originally from Sainte-Hélène de Kamouraska, but I currently live in Saguenay. I grew up on a dairy farm with my parents who are passionate about agriculture. My mom started running in her thirties, because of back pains. She participated in many competitions, such as the Sands Marathon and Ultra Marathons all around the country. She transfered her passion with me in my teenage years. I even competed in my first marathon with my mom at the age of only 16 years old.
Thereafter, I simply became passionate about running as well. I competed in many marathons, half-marathons, and events of shorter distances. During fall of 2015, me and my boyfriend competed in our first Ultra Trail, the Bromont Ultra Trail 55KM. It was my first experience doing a trail run and I finished 5th. I had promised myself to compete in the Bromont Ultra of 2016, but to mainly focus on the trail running this time. In January, me and my mother decided to enter the competition, the 160KM run. It was a graduation present offered by my parents.
On October 8th, at 7:30am, I was slowly starting the 160KM race. On the 9th, 33 hours and 31 minutes later I was ending my first big accomplishment! 162KM! I am a beyond passionate about running. I never skip a day! Either it’s on a trail or on the road, I simply love it. I run outside, no matter whether it’s a beautiful day or not. I am a kinesiologist since April 2016 and I work in a clinic in Jonquiere. I also work at Ultraviolet in Jonquiere where I help the customers pick the perfect shoes for them. I am truly passionate about this sport!
